Charges have been handed out to an Elk City man after he allegedly intentionally hit another man with his car.

According to court records, 28-year-old Chauncey Bryce Neal was formally charged Thursday in Washita County District Court with domestic assault and battery with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, assault and/or battery on an emergency medical technician, and driving under the influence of drugs.

In a probable cause affidavit, the incident took place on the morning of Monday, September 21 when the victim, 40-year-old Casey Lynn Bell, told authorities that he had gotten into an argument with Neal while traveling on a county road south of Canute. He stated that he exited the car, and that’s when Neal allegedly ran Bell over with the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander.

Bell was air lifted to an Oklahoma City hospital and admitted with what was described in the report as being a “severe fractured femur”.

During the investigation process, authorities were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle in a nearby pasture, however it was abandoned. A few hours later, authorities were able to locate Neal at a nearby residence.

After being detained and interviewed by the trooper, it was noted in the affidavit that the trooper believed Neal may have been under the influence of drugs.

Neal was transported to the Cordell Hospital for a blood test. During this process, it was reported that Neal allegedly would push a nurse in an aggressive manner. It was later reported that the nurse would not sustain any injuries.
