Sundance, the first of three new Oklahoma wind farms that will provide energy to Public Service Company of Oklahoma customers, is now in service.

The 199-megawatt Sundance project is located northwest of Aline in Woods County, and is part of the 1,485-MW North Central Energy Facilities, from which PSO customers will receive 675 MW.

The North Central Energy Facility is a joint project with PSO’s Shreveport, Louisiana-based sister company, Southwestern Electric Power Company, which will receive 810 MW. Along with Sundance, the NCEF also includes the 287-MW Maverick and the 999-MW Traverse projects that are currently under construction. Maverick and Traverse are scheduled to be in service later this year and in early 2022, respectively.

Part of the three wind farms will be located in Custer county.

The facilities are being developed by Invenergy and will be purchased by PSO and SWEPCO at completion.
