Rain has returned with a vengeance to western Oklahoma and once again Custer County is seeing potential record amounts of precipitation in a short amount of time.
In fact, Wednesday morning’s storms in the area have caused flash flooding issues in the City of Clinton with homes reportedly taking on water, and multiple washed out roads throughout Custer County.
There was even reports of wind damage to trees and buildings in Clinton.
Custer County Emergency Management Director Mike Galloway also says the Washita River is out of it’s banks.
Galloway added that county road 1040, south of Weatherford was also washed out. He said there could be possible damage to train tracks in the Clinton area as well.
According to the Oklahoma Mesonet, 24-hour rain totals have Butler receiving 2.8 inches of rain, Weatherford getting 3.2 inches and Bessie receiving 1.4 inches. However, 14-day totals are staggering, with Butler having received just under 11 inches of rain in that time span. Weatherford is showing 9.5 inches, Bessie with 4.6 inches, and Elk City at just over 3.1 inches.
