A Clinton man is wanted in Custer County after leading authorities on a high speed pursuit.
Court documents show that the pursuit began after police caught the suspect street racing.
According to court records, 37-year-old Nicholas Tyler Wraspir was charged with one felony count of endangering others while attempting to elude police on the morning of December 21.
A probable cause affidavit showed that while on patrol, a Clinton Police Officer observed two vehicles racing each other on U.S. Highway 183, south of Clinton. It was reported that speeds of 105 mph were recorded by the officer during the race.
While initiating a traffic stop on the vehicles, one pulled over without incident and was secured by another officer. However the other vehicle, later identified as being driven by Wraspir, increased it’s speed and attempted to elude the officer.
After leading the officer on a pursuit that saw it go through multiple county roads, a private drive, and a yard, the evading vehicle eventually came to a stop in a field. There Wraspir would exit the vehicle and run into the field – evading capture.
A passenger in the vehicle, a woman, was detained and questioned before being released.
As of press time Wraspir has not been arrested.
Bond was initially set at $20,000.
