UPDATE: Woman Accused of Racist Post Arrested

The woman accused of impersonating a Clinton teacher and posting a racist message on Facebook has been arrested.

Court records show that 43-year-old Casee Liza Hughes of Oklahoma City was arrested on April 18 after receiving a felony charge of computer fraud and falsely personate another to create liability.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the post came to light in October when the teacher made authorities at the Clinton Police Department aware of the activity.

The victim told police that someone had cloned her Facebook account and created the post in her name.

The affidavit said that as a result of the post, the teacher told authorities that she had started to receive threatening messages, some that allegedly mentioned death. The victim also told police that she suspected the culprit as being her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend, Hughes. She said that Hughes had begun harassing her on Facebook around the same time the inappropriate message was created.

A break in the case came when the victim was able to take a screenshot of a TikTok video, that had shared the post. From there police were able to obtain a search warrant for the TikTok account and discovered that Hughes’ email was attached to the account, which was created just three days after the racist post was made.

Hughes is due inside a Custer County courtroom on May 5 for an attorney date. A preliminary hearing conference is scheduled for May 19.

If convicted on the two felony charges, Hughes could face up to 20 years of jail time plus fines.
