The Elk City Police Department is hiring.
According to Assistant Chief, Det. John Cook the department has an opening for one dispatcher and at least six patrol officers.
Cook said the reason for the shortage of patrolman is due to officers moving on to other departments that include the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Drug Task Force.
Cook says applications can be found at City Hall, the Police Department, and online.
