Beckham County, OK – More details revealed surrounding the mass arrests of illegal truck drivers in Beckham County.
Governor Kevin Stitt says a large-scale enforcement action in Beckham County along Interstate 40 led to more than 125 arrests and the discovery of fraudulent commercial driver’s licenses.
The crackdown, called Operation Guardian, was carried out by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Stitt revealed that those arrested came from a wide range of countries, including India, Uzbekistan, China, Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Mauritania.
Troopers also stopped multiple commercial truck drivers who were carrying licenses issued from sanctuary states. One license even listed the driver’s name as “No Name Given.” Officials stressed that individuals driving 80,000-pound rigs without proper verification posed a major safety risk to Oklahoma motorists.
Stitt criticized states that issue CDLs without solid identification checks, pointing to New York as an example.
“If New York wants to hand out CDLs to illegal immigrants with ‘No Name Given,’ that’s on them,” Stitt said. “The moment they cross into Oklahoma, they answer to our laws.”
The governor added his thanks to OHP and ICE, emphasizing that the sweep was about protecting the safety of Oklahomans traveling through Beckham County and beyond.
