Mountain Park, OK — A former mayor in southwestern Oklahoma is facing a felony charge following an investigation into the misuse of city funds.

According to authorities, 45-year-old Adam Ney, former mayor of Mountain Park, has been charged with one count of embezzlement involving $5,438 in municipal funds. The charge stems from financial activity uncovered during a 2024 audit of city accounts.

Investigators allege that Ney used a city-issued bank card to make 12 separate ATM withdrawals. The transactions were tied to the Apache Casino Hotel and a nearby ATM location. Officials believe the withdrawn funds were used for gambling.

During the investigation, Ney reportedly deposited cash back into city accounts and claimed he believed the money had been repaid. However, authorities say the transactions still constitute misuse of public funds.

The case was investigated by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Ney was arrested on April 30.
