A Caddo County accident on Interstate 40 Monday morning has taken the life of a Hammon man.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Dane Kauk passed away after his 2017 Toyota Tacoma struck a 2022 Freightliner that was slowing down in the east bound lanes on I-40 near the 94 mile marker due to the roadway being closed because of a previous crash.

OHP reported that Kauk was transported to Weatherford Regional Hospital and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

OHP says there were no passengers in either vehicle at the time of the accident and that both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The driver of the semi was uninjured.
