A tragic accident occurred on State Highway 136, four miles south of Gruver, Texas, resulting in the deaths of two truck drivers on Tuesday afternoon. One of the victims was from Clinton.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash involved two semi-trucks and took place at approximately 2:22 p.m.
Authorities identified the drivers as 56-year-old Mark Ray of Clinton and 20-year-old Adrian Ceniceros of Perryton, Texas. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by the Hansford County Justice of the Peace.
DPS officials stated that the collision occurred when Ray, driving a 2021 Peterbilt truck tractor, was traveling westbound on a farm road. Investigators believe he disregarded a stop sign at the intersection with SH 136, colliding with Ceniceros’ 2001 Freightliner truck tractor, which was heading northbound. Both vehicles caught fire upon impact. The Texas Highway Patrol said it remains unclear whether either driver was wearing a seatbelt due to the extensive damage caused by the crash.
Texas Highway Patrol Troopers are continuing their investigation into the incident. No other injuries were reported in the crash.
