Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB) has awarded over $523,000 in scholarships to 97 students pursuing petroleum-related degrees at Oklahoma universities. Among the recipients are two local students:

Brance Pitzer from Canute — currently a senior at Canute High School and named the 2025 Valedictorian. He plans to attend Oklahoma State University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Rylee Wyatt from Elk City — a sophomore at Oklahoma State University majoring in Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering. She will intern with Devon Energy in North Dakota this summer.
These scholarships, funded by Oklahoma’s oil and natural gas producers and royalty owners, support students in fields such as Petroleum Engineering, Geoenergy Engineering, Geosciences, and Energy Management. The University of Oklahoma has further amplified this initiative by matching $221,750 in scholarship funds for Geoscience and Petroleum Engineering students, bringing the total impact to $735,250.
Scholarship amounts increase annually, reaching up to $7,500 for seniors. Recipients also gain access to industry networking events and educational activities. Applications for the 2026–2027 academic year open on November 1. Learn more at oerb.com/scholarships.
