During the latest regular meeting of the Elk City Commission, the Commission approved an Infectious Disease Control Policy for the City of Elk City.
City Manager Tom Ivester says this is a policy that needed to be addressed to obtain grant money that former City Treasurer and City Grant Writer Lisa Church had applied for last summer. Ivester stressed that this policy is not a mask mandate.
Church told the Commission that the grant itself is only for $1,000, however the policy needed to be signed off by the Commissioners for CARES Act funding that the city has received.
In other business, the Commission did approve the purchase of six desktop computers and eight monitors for the Elk City Police Department for just over $12,000 – a budgeted item.
