Elk City, OK — Officers from multiple local law enforcement agencies gathered at the Elk City Police Gun Range on July 24 for a specialized Vehicle Ambush training course hosted by the Elk City Police Department.

Led by Lt. Brad George and assisted by Captain Sammy Weygand, the training focused on preparing officers for high-risk encounters involving vehicles. Participants engaged in hands-on drills emphasizing rapid response under fire, use of cover and concealment, team coordination, and returning fire under stress.

The course brought together officers from the Elk City Police Department, Washita County Sheriff’s Department, Sayre Public Schools Police Department, and Beckham County Sheriff’s Department. The goal: build tactical response skills, enhance officer safety, and strengthen collaboration between agencies.

We’re proud to work alongside our local partners to keep our communities safe and our officers sharp,” the department said in a post following the training.
