The Elk City School District is taking advantage of grant dollars provided by the federal government to help combat Covid-19.
Superintendent Mike Sparks said that the district has obtained a Covid Prevention Grant that will help the district obtain, among other things, testing kits that will be utilized throughout the district.
Sparks also said the funds also went towards the hiring of a covid prevention coordinator for the district.
Sparks said that position is temporary and lasts through the end of the current fiscal year (June 31, 2021). He said the school is still currently awaiting approval for funds from the American Rescue Plan.
