A Granite man was hospitalized and now faces multiple charges after leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit through multiple counties.
According to Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning, 24-year-old Samuel Herman Pence allegedly stole a vehicle in Greer County and led authorities on a high-speed pursuit that ended with him crashing the vehicle near East CR 1110 and North CR 1940, west of Elk City.
Manning said that after the crash, the defendant fled the scene on foot, prompting the Sheriff’s Office to issue a “Be on the Lookout” (BOLO) alert for the suspect via the office’s app.
He added that a second vehicle was later spotted fleeing the area after being seen by one of his deputies.
Manning said Pence was taken to a nearby hospital in Wheeler, Texas, where he is currently being treated for severe internal injuries.
Manning credited multiple agencies for assisting the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office in the pursuit and apprehension of the suspect, including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Elk City Police Department, Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office, and the Elk City Fire Department for providing a drone.
