A Mangum woman died over the weekend after being involved in a two vehicle accident in Jackson County.

According to the collision report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 9 p.m. Saturday night on U.S. Highway 283, two miles north of Blair. Troopers say 82-year-old Doris Kennedy was driving northbound on the highway and collide with a vehicle driving southbound – in the northbound lane.

The report said that both drivers were pinned in their vehicles for roughly 30 minutes before being extradited by the Altus and Blair Fire Departments.

Unfortunately, Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in fair condition with trunk internal and leg injuries.

The cause of the collision and condition of both drivers is under investigation.

In other traffic news, the west bound lanes of Interstate 40 at mile marker 26 in Beckham County were closed for just under 90 minutes Saturday afternoon.

OHP says traffic was diverted to the shoulder due to a non-injury collision at around 3 p.m.
