Due to a high demand of requested time off, and an anticipated high amount of students not being present – Elk City schools will not have school on Friday.
Why the mass exodus on Friday? Superintendent Mike Sparks said because a lot of teachers, students and parents plan to attend the 4A playoff game between the Big Elks and Grove, at Grove – which is roughly just over four hours away.
Like most schools, Elk City will not have class next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
