The Oklahoma wheat harvest surged forward over the past five days, though progress varied across the state due to scattered rain and persistent humidity.
According to the Oklahoma Wheat Commission, high humidity limited working hours even during clear weather windows, resulting in shorter harvest days. Heavy rainfall overnight brought additional delays, especially in north-central Oklahoma along the I-35 corridor.
Despite the setbacks, harvesters in southwest, south-central, central, western, and northwest Oklahoma reported strong progress. These regions are now between 95 and 98 percent complete, with only a few producers still finishing up.
Yields have generally ranged from the mid-40s to mid-50s bushels per acre. Some lower-yielding fields were reported, largely due to excess moisture.
Statewide, the harvest is now estimated to be 78 percent complete.
