Snyder Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash in Kiowa County

Kiowa County, OK – A Snyder man was killed Monday morning in a single vehicle collision in Kiowa County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 6:47 a.m. Feb. 9 on U.S. Highway 62B, about one mile south of Snyder and approximately 0.3 miles south of County Road North South 2270.

Troopers said a northbound vehicle driven by 41 year old Verlin D. Beede of Snyder left the left side of the roadway and struck a private drive embankment. After impact, the vehicle vaulted from the embankment and became airborne for approximately 102 feet before rotating counterclockwise and landing on its passenger side wheels. The vehicle then rolled onto its passenger side and continued rolling before coming to rest on all four wheels facing west.

Beede was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Troopers reported that a seatbelt was not in use at the time of the collision. Next of kin has been notified.

The collision remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Trooper Mitchel Witt of Troop M is the investigating officer.
