Texas DPS Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Seizure

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 80 pounds of suspected methamphetamine after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Wheeler County.

Wednesday, March 20, at approximately 4:18 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica traveling east on I-40 near Shamrock for a traffic violation. During the stop, the Trooper found multiple plastic-wrapped packages of methamphetamine located in the front door panels and underneath the carpet in the rear cargo area.

DPS Special Agents and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agents were contacted and assisted with the investigation. DEA Special Agents adopted the case.

The driver, Marcos Moreno-Tirado, 28, of Visalia, Calif., was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and transported and booked into the Randall County Jail.

The drugs were reportedly being transported from Calif. to Ark.
