Two Cordell residents were arrested after felony murder warrants were issued on September 11. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) announced the arrests following an investigation into the death of a two-year-old child last December.
The toddler passed away on December 29, 2023, after Cordell police responded to a call about a child not breathing. Despite life-saving efforts, the child was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. The child’s body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further investigation.
The child’s father, 37-year-old Jerrid Page Johnson, and maternal grandmother, 63-year-old Kathleen Mary Green, were present at the scene and were interviewed by OSBI agents. After a thorough investigation, the Medical Examiner’s Office determined on August 14, 2024, that acute fentanyl toxicity was the probable cause of death.
On September 11, felony murder warrants were issued for Johnson and Green. Both surrendered to the Washita County Sheriff’s Office and were charged with Second-Degree Murder. Johnson’s bond was set at $500,000, while Green’s bond was set at $200,000. Their preliminary hearing conference is scheduled for October 1.
