Two Killed in Head-On Crash on I-40 Near McLean, TX

McLean, TX – Two people were killed Sunday afternoon in a head-on crash on Interstate 40 west of McLean, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred at 1:56 p.m. in Gray County under clear weather and dry road conditions. The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph.

Authorities said a 2016 Toyota Highlander, driven by Ester Everson, 60, of Amarillo, was traveling eastbound on I-40. A 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Dorothy Guinn, 81, of Pampa, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it struck the Highlander head-on.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Investigators reported Everson was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Guinn was not wearing a seatbelt.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
