Authorities are investigating as to why a church in Weatherford caught fire Tuesday afternoon.
Led by the Weatherford Fire Department, firefighters from multiple departments battled the blaze at Trinity Baptist Church, which is located at the corner of Huber and Daniel Streets. Crews were dispatched to the location at around 3:30 p.m. It is believed that the fire may have started in the sanctuary, however the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
Two nearby schools were evacuated due to the fire.
Students and faculty at East Elementary and Stafford Elementary evacuated and maintained a safe distance while crews contained the blaze.
The church is now considered a total loss.
