A Weatherford man received arson and assault charges recently after allegedly hitting a woman and pouring pouring kerosene on her.
Details are limited, but according to a probable cause affidavit the incident occurred inside a home located in the 500 block of N. Illinois in Weatherford on August 30th.
The court document said that’s when 58-year-old Rory Stormy Rush allegedly struck the victim on the back of her left upper arm and then allegedly poured kerosene on the carpet of the home and also on the victim.
It was not clear what his intention in doing so was.
Court records show Rush was previously convicted of assault and battery on a police officer, a felony, in Jackson County in 2010.
This time Rush was charged in Custer County District Court with one felony county of 4th degree arson AFC (a crime punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 or imprisonment for up to 10 years, or both) and one misdemeanor count of domestic abuse – assault and battery.
