A Clinton woman has been charged in Custer County District Court after she allegedly attempted to stab a man.

The woman also allegedly bit an officer while she was being arrested.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the incident occurred on the evening of October 4 when police were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of North Ninth Street. There they found a man on top of a woman. That man would tell police that the woman, later identified as being 38-year-old Savannah Rachelle Delaney, had broke into the home while he was sleeping. He said that he awoke to find her standing over him with a knife, and her saying “I’m going to kill you”.

The man told police that he was able to overpower Delaney and get her to drop the knife, however he did suffer cuts during the struggle.

The affidavit stated that after being placed in the back of a patrol car, Delaney was able to free one hand from the handcuffs. While an officer was attempting to put the handcuffs back on her, she pushed herself past the officer in an attempt to escape. The affidavit said that while doing so, she allegedly bit the officer on the arm.

Delaney would be charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree burglary, attempted escape from arrest and assault and battery on a police officer.
