Clinton Man Threatens Woman with a Pocket Knife

A Clinton man was arrested and received a felony charge recently after allegedly assaulting a woman and threatening her with a pocket knife.

According to court records, 35-year-old Jesse Wray Freeman was arrested on March 8 when Clinton police were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of North 16th Street to a call of a domestic situation involving weapons.

When police arrived they would told that the suspect, Freeman, ran into the garage in an attempt to hide from police. He was located and arrested a short time later without incident.

When talking to police, the victim would saw that Freeman had become upset after not being able to find a key, that he believed the woman had taken from him. This allegedly caused Freeman to become violent toward the woman by restricting her from leaving the room, placing an arm across her neck and chest, and pushing her against the wall.

Freeman would also brandish an opened pocket knife where he would, according to the victim, thrust the knife towards her in a short forward motion.

Freeman was charged with one felony count of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He also received a misdemeanor chage of obstructing an officer after attempting to hide from the officer in the garage.

Freeman’s next court date, a preliminary hearing conference, is scheduled for April 28.
