Two motorcyclist were injured Saturday afternoon in Washita County after high winds caused the two to crash.

According to the collision report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Report, the accident occurred at approximately 2:39p.m. Saturday on US-183 4 miles southwest of Cordell, when while traveling northbound the 2015 Harley Davidson driven by 39-year-old Darren L. Leflore of Krebs swerved into the 2021 Indian motorcycle driven by 45-year-old James Lashmet of Okmulgee, but did not make contact. Troopers said both riders lost control due to high winds and departed the road to the left.

OHP said that Leflore was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in fair condition with internal injuries and leg injuries. Lashmet was also flown to OU Medical where he was admitted in critical condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

OHP listed the cause of the mishap as being “high wind” and said both riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
