Thunder fall to Hornets despite trio of young stars scoring over 30

by Aaron Kauk

The Oklahoma City Thunder suffered a tough loss last night against the Charlotte Hornets, despite impressive offensive performances from three of their young stars. PJ Washington led the charge for the Hornets, scoring 43 points and taking advantage of the Thunder’s porous defense. However, Josh Giddey, Jalen Williams, and Isiah Joe all scored over 30 points, becoming only the second trio in league history to accomplish this feat while all being under 24 years old. The other trio to achieve this milestone also played for the Thunder: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden.

Despite the strong offensive showing, the Thunder was unable to overcome the Hornets, falling 137-134 and dropping into a tie with the Dallas Mavericks for the final play-in spot. However, the Thunder will have a chance to bounce back tonight as they host the Detroit Pistons.
