Concerned fire chiefs in Custer County has prompted county commissioners to implement a burn ban effective immediately.
District 1 Commissioner Wade Anders says with dryer than usual conditions, and dry vegetation in the county, all six fire departments in Custer County voiced their concerns to the commissioners. Anders says the commissioners shared those concerns and voted to inact the burn ban during their weekly regular meeting Monday morning.
Anders said the burn ban is in affect for 14 days, however the commissioners will revisit the ban on a week to week basis.
According to Beckham County officials, no burn ban has been put into affect for the county.
